Hi
I have a strange fault with my CD X. The machine reads discs and plays fine at first but the further it goes through the CD tracks the playback starts to skip and gets progressively worse. It also makes a soft ticking sound as the cd spins.
I have recently had the machine apart as it was not reading discs 100% of the time. I have done the griplets and renewed the electrolytic capacitors on the servo board also looking at the decoder board I see that the griplets have been done previously and meter out good.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Paul

Lubricate the laser block pivot bearings.
Long-term spindle oil.

Thanks Martin, I will give that a go.
Funnily enough the playback has improved about 90% from just sitting back in it's usually home, I guess the mechanics didn't much like being upside down for a few days while I was servicing the PCBs. The new caps and griplet service have greatly improved the disc reading.
