Essence + Core = why?

Hi alls, The (desirable) Beosystem 72-22 press kit shows the cabinet housing a Beosound Essence and a Beosound Core. I bought a playmaker some time ago from a guy who wanted his (Beosound 5) setup to be updated and was sold a Beosound Essence and a Beosound Core. I wonder what is the benefit of having both. Doesn't the Core have and replace all the features of the Essence?
