Hello Heidi, The Beogram 1000 is a lovely old turntable. When balanced correctly the tonearm moves beautifully down and up on and off the surface of a record. This Beogram does not have a built in amplifier. Sound output is achieved by connecting the Beogram to a Beomaster, or any audio amplifier with speakers attached. There should be 2 cables coming from the rear; the power cable and another with a 5-pin DIN plug. This would usually be connected to a Beomaster 1000 or similar. (Any audio amplifier with speakers may work though.) The photo you shared seemed to show some damage to the black plastic clamp which a) holds the tonearm in place and b) activates and deactivates turntable rotation. The clamp should hold the tonearm snugly and stop it moving around. It might be a good idea to find a local audio repair tech and ask to have the Beogram inspected.
