My main setup runs like this: [third-party HiRes digital player] -> [third-party USB DAC] -> [Beomaster 7000/4500] -> [Beolab 9]
I alternate between my Beomasters 7000 and 4500, only used as preamp. But I feel they tend to veil/muffle the sound. Therefore I decided to buy a better sounding integrated DAC/preamp.
The BeoConnect Core would be a convenient one (USB digital input, PowerLink output, BeoRemote control), but I am unsure about its sound quality.
So my question is: will a Core really sound more transparent than my current DAC/Beomaster? Or will a third-party DAC/preamp sound better (something like Audiolab D7 or iFi Valkyrie)?
Thanks
Beoconnect Core - sound quality as DAC/preamp
