Bang & Olufsen Beogram CD 5500 - Reading issue only on the first tracks

Hi everyone, I recently acquired a Beogram CD 5500 player. After a few repairs to the DIN cable, which did not appear to be original (short circuit on the data wire), I also replaced infamous cap C2103. The player "works," except for reading issues: The CD starts playing normally without any rubbing noise, the number of tracks is displayed, but the first tracks are choppy and skipping a lot. The tracking seems to try to reposition itself a lot. However, as soon as the middle of the CD is reached, there are no more reading issues. What are the different things to test, and especially how to check:
  • The press plate seems unlikely: it doesn't rub against anything but seems to vibrate a lot; even when I manually re-center it to reduce vibrations,  problem persists Is the motor not spinning fast enough?
  • Is the optical block not following the movement well in the center of the CD?
  • The CDM block's suspension? Where can I find replacements, or did anyone try to 3D print them?
  • The motor's suspension?
  • Other ideas ?
Thank you for your insights, and sorry for the automatic translation which may look a bit awkaward :)
What brand and type of capacitor did you fit for C2103? Did you do any adjustments? - If not DON'T do any. Drive supports here. No, you cannot 3D-print these. There are more to them than meets the eye. Martin
Hi thanks, I'll look into the replacement supports. I may try some 3D printed or home made solution as an experiment and will keep everybody posted. Regarding the cap C2103, I replaced with a random chinese one with same values I had laying around, I know there is a lot of discussion especially in a French forum about using an original one but thought it was a pedantic discussion ... I kept the original and will refit it if ESR and capacitance values are still spot on.   Edit : Cap c2103 it was tested : 37µF with ESR 6 Ohm so I guess it is toasted !
