I had not used my Beogram 3000 for a few months as I replaced it with a BG8500 (to match my BC8500), but it was working fine when last used.  I was thinking of selling it but then decided to buy a Beosound 4 recently for another room, and will connect it to that. I plugged it in (and it was quite late at night, and quiet!) and I noticed something - there's a constant humming noise coming from it when it's plugged in, even when not in use.  It's very quiet and you have to be close to it to hear it, but it's there. First I thought it must be the earth (I had not yet connected it to my phono stage and BS4 yet as I need an adapter for that - awaiting that in the post).  My understanding is that the 7 pin DIN includes an earth connection, but since I will be connecting this to a Beosound 4 which only has RCA inputs, it won't be earthed, am I right? So, to test that theory I took it to the other room and connected it to by Beocenter 8500, but the humming is still there.  It sounds like it's coming from the back-right of the unit, which I believe is where the transformer is.  Maybe it was always there and I never noticed it before. I've fixed a few other B&O items but never a Beogram - I've only ever bought working ones.  Any advice would be much appreciated.
