I have a beogram 4002 type 5521. I have been working on this for a while now and while I have fixed most of the problems there is one that still occurs.
Sometimes (I would say 20/30% of the times). there is some delay from the time I press the button to lift the tonearm to the moment where tonearm is lifted. These behaviors occurs (more dangerously so for the cartridge integrity) also when it gets to record end and tonearm is dragged down on the record for few seconds while it gets back in parking position without lifting the arm.
Curiously it seems that the event is more likely to occur when it has been playing the record for while.
here are the fixes I have deployed so far:
- oiled the damping system with synthetic oil. I can push the spring manually and they seemed clog free
- Changed capacitors on the board with solid state (a guy in Denmark did it for me)
- verified the alignment of the plastic black markers on the carriage.
