Hello BeoWorld, I am new here but I have read quite a lot of posts on the repair of Beogram CD50's so perhaps I just need someone to point me in the right direction. I have inherited a BeoSystem 5000 from my dad which I remember him buying when I was small.  It has a few problems that I am trying to fix as it hold some fond memories for me.  Firstly I am tacking the CD player. This has the usual problems with the drawer unit so I am going to clean the gears following marking them up and replace the belt which all seems pretty straightforward. My real problem is with the spindle motor which does the "chirping" sound but wont turn the CD.  I have read that this is usually fixed by cleaning in IPA or some such. Q1 whilst I can remove all the screws holding the motor and the board and the grub screw in the brass spindle. I don't know if I can remove the two plastic connectors from the wiring harness connected to the board easily.  Are these simple pull off connectors or are they soldered on. Q2 Assuming that I can get these connectors off how do I clean it, do I just dunk it in IPA overnight or some such or is there a special procedure? Q3 The motor also seems to be pressed into a metal plate, is it best practice to press it off before cleaning? Q4 If all this fails can I get a new motor/board etc and if so from whom?
