Can you control and remote operate a Beogram 3300 with BeoMaster 3500

I’ve got a full Beosystem 3500 that I was lucky enough to pick up brand new in box back in February. I’ve always wanted to add a Beogram 3500 turntable to complete the set, but the prices are eye-watering—around £1000 just for the TT. Considering I only paid £200 for the entire system, which still works beautifully, that’s hard to justify. Recently I came across a local Beogram 3300 for £80, which isn’t a bad match visually or technically. I know the BM3500 doesn’t have a built-in phono pre-amp (which is easy enough to solve with an external unit), but like the other components I want it to pass datalink. At the moment I don’t think it is, because when I plug it into the TP2/phono input on the back, nothing actually happens. (Yes I know without an RIAA stage) its going to be too quiet, but I am trying to figure out the remote functionality for now I’ve already emailed Steve at Sounds Heavenly for advice but also asking here too. I know the turntable itself is good—I tested it at the seller’s house on a Beocenter 9300 and all the remote functions worked there. any help or advice appreciated   Ryan

Non-RIAA turntables pass datalink through DIN pin 6. RIAA equipped turntables pass datalink through DIN pin 7 (the same as other B&O line level components, like CD players). If not fitted with RIAA (some were) your BM3500 will expect datalink on input DIN pin 7, hence you will need to modify your DIN lead (in addition to adding a pre-amp) in order to remote control the turntable.

An easy solution instead of making special cables could be the RIAA from Oneremote which also passes the datalink control signals

^ Great solution @madskp  - I would buy that! I wasn't aware of that, so perhaps it's a new product.  I assume it swaps the datalink across from pin 6 to 7. I was aware of this older version, but I don't think it's available any longer:

Thanks both for clearing that up, I knew there would be some weird quirk.   Steve tells me he can make a datalink Din Bypass cable so hopefully this will solve the issue and I will have remote operation. Just waiting for him to get back to me and I'll be placing the order.   Even though not an exact match to my 3500 it looks quite nice. I made a little stand for it yesterday to tuck it under my Hifi stand.

Oneremote also had an other one before which I belive did the same. I found a picture of it here
