What is a MMC20 - Type A cartridge
6 replies
Greetings,
I see ads for a MMC 20 - Type A cartridge every now and then but can't find any real data on it. Some ads show it as a 20EN but that label is not printed on the cartridge like it is on a "genuine" 20EN.
So did B&O call the original nude elliptical 20EN just a "Type A" and then later came out with the 20S, 20E and 20 CL so they renamed the Type A as a 20EN?
Confused here!
Hello, there is no MMC20 cartridge. Only MMC20S/E/EN/CL, so 4 types, ligned-up low-to-high in their specs, see also this website, withcartridge database!

I am not aware of a “type A” cartridge that B&O had made…

Nebojsa is correct. I was a B&O dealer back then.
What you have is the packing box of the cartridge that would come when it was included with the turntable. They provided specific models with specific turntables. The retail packaging for the cartridge was much larger and had the model on it. This cartridge is upside down hiding its model and the cantilever looks skewed, so I would avoid.
