I was using my Beolab 3500 directly from my Beosond 9000 with a masterlink cable and then one day it stopped and the 3500 display has just a : . How can I get it working again?

Have you tried to disconnect both and reconnect?
Tried pulling out the ML cable (sorry, I know that is cumbersome)?
Please do check the ML wire.
Do you have a junction (box) somewhere along the way?
