Beolab 7-1 used as centerspeaker with non-B&O TV.

Dear Forum. I am using a beolab 7 centerspeaker on my non-B&O TV. The speaker is connected to the TV with a special cable with powerlink, mini Jack and usb-trigger. The cable is connected to a digtital to analog hdmi-arc converter. Now to my question: The setup is always powered on. My beolab 7 is always a bit warm - also when not in use. Is this normal or could there be a overheating problem? I also need to say that the setup works fine with no other complications. thanks in advance. Bo.

I have a similar set-up with a 7-2. I’ve got a cable which takes a power trigger from the TV’s USB and audio from my AVR via an RCA female socket, all into the Powerlink plug. My 7-2 is only on when the TV is on. It sounds like your TV gives a constant power from the USB socket, hence the 7-1 is always on. Check out the instructions for your TV, if there’s more than one USB socket then one of them might not be ‘always on’, or it might be something you can adjust in the settings. As to whether it’s doing any harm, probably not if you aren’t worried about the power consumption (which should be minimal). ‘A bit warm’ is fine, possibly even preferable to longevity than repeatedly warming up and cooling down.
I am powering the usb trigger from a normal powersocket. Could that be the mistake instead of powering it from the TV?

100% yes. Plug it into a USB on the back of the TV and it will almost certainly power up/down with the TV.
Hi DT79. Thanks for Your insigths. It helped. Regards, Bo
