left one is rather dim .

Is there any chance the 'brighter' one is presenting through a replacement (thinner) plastic window?

Beofan for many years with a penchant for 1990s audio systems.
no , both have new lenses , the bright one is a newer lcd module .
Are your speakers MK2?
If so, the glasses seem to be very dark - perhaps they are in fact mkIII glasses.

those covers are used , their MKII versions .
the right one has a new lcd and is much brighter .
I wondered if there was a way to make the other one a bit brighter
