Best way to configure Beolab 8000 and Beolab 14 sub

Assuming I get my sub up and running, I’m wondering what the best way to get the optimum results from 2 x Beolab 8000 and a Beolab 14 sub. I’m using a Beosystem 4500 with Powerlink as the source, but don’t know whether to do a single Powerlink connection to the sub and then have the 8000’s coming off the sub, or have the 8000’s with their own Powerlink and the sub coming off one of the 8000’s. All of my Powerlink sockets on the 4500 amp are full, but Steve at Sounds Heavenly can do a Powerlink splitter, as well as a Powerlink to RJ45 cable (he really is a godsend!). It’s all a bit confusing ! Cheers Jonny
Since the BL14 sub only has PL input ports, you have no option to have ‘the 8000’s coming off the sub’ - you will have to run it in parallel to the BL8000’s (with the cable that Steve can provide). On the sub itself there is not much to configure. Please play with the settings e.g. corner, wall, free to get a decent result for your room. Also the placement in the room is important. The BL14 (or the S8) is really best for connecting to a B&O tv, where you have much more control over the behaviour of the sub. As a standalone (2 channel) setup the BL11 would be better suited in my humble opinion. MM

Thanks MM - Steve can do RI45 to Powerlink cables, so my further investigation is thinking PL in from 4500 amp, then RJ45 to PL back to the 8000’s ? I think that way the system b reduces the bass output to the 8000’s.
Hi again MM - Steve’s confirmed everything you said about the 14. Will see how it works with my setup, but start looking out for an 11. You are talking about an II and not a 2 ? Appreciate the input - every day is a school day !
Hi Jonathan, I have a BeoSystem 4500 using a BL 11 with two BL 3 for audio output. The 11 is connected to the BM 4500 via PL and from there the BL 3 are connected via PL as well. Works like a charm and is sounding so, so great. I have no experience with the BL 2, but here in the forum (mostly archived forums, I guess) are a lot of opinions available, stating that it is best for movies / blockbuster, whereas the 11 is best for music. Since a couple of weeks, I am testing a S8 connected to my BV Eclipse (+ BL 18 + BL 4000) and it adds nice bass to the set up. IMHO, the BL 11 would be a very good solution for your set up. Kind regards, Rolf
