Hello Everyone,
I just came back from holiday yesterday and Beolab 5 was unplugged for 3 weeks.
When I plugged it back in, one of the units made a "cracking noise" coming from the 165mm woofer shortly after turning it on with the remote. Then there was a loud "bang," the unit turned off, and the LED started flashing red.
I tried exchanging the power cord, but it did not change anything.
The other unit is fine.
If I turn it on and lower the volume very quickly with the remote, it does not make any noise and does not turn off. However, when I increase the volume, it makes the noise and turns off rapidly.

Hi,
its probably the upper bass amplifier thats need to be repaired/exchange (Ice1000a) normaly a chassi repair thru b&o network

By swapping the ICE module it is confirmed that it's faulty.
Don't take for granted that it is always caused by a defective module. I've had several BL5's with the same behaviour caused by the DSP.
So, by swapping and eliminating you can often find the responsible part.
But be carefull. It won't be the first driver that has been smoked due to a defective ICE module/amplifier.
