Can someone tell me how the FM Stereo Indicator is supposed to work on the 1900?
On my particular unit, setting the switch "on" automatically turns the FM indicator light on and the tuner receives in stereo.
The light however stays on even if receiver is not receiving a station. Turning the switch "off" turns the FM indicator light off and the receiver receives in mono. I seem to recall in another 1900 that I owned that the FM indicator will flash on and off depending on whether it actually receives an FM signal.
The FM stereo indicator also stays on when in phono and tape mode.
Is this normal?

The Stereo indicator should not light up when tuning between stations.
You could have a bad decoder IC.

Thanks Martin, appreciate it as always. It's been a long time since I owned one of these.
The butterfly tuning indicator works.
