Beomaster 4500 no stereo on AUX/CD/TP1 inputs

Greetings, I recently acquired a Beomaster 4500. When listening in FM mode the unit work perfectly. I got a 5DIN to 3.5m cable to connect my AirPort Express and be able to airplay music wirelessly from my phone. When I do so, I only get audio on the right channel, regardless of which speaker bank I plug in the speakers too. When I switch to FM mode, stereo works just fine. I have moved the 5DIN cable to all sources (AUX/CD/TP1/TP2) and same result. I also tried a 7DIN to 3.5m cable and same results. The seller said the unit worked normally in stereo mode when used with a BeogramCD player. Any advice on what could be my issue and how to properly play music wirelessly via AirPlay in stereo mode? Thank you all for the help, -Veso
Hi and welcome to Beoworld! A couple of simple things to check (apologies f you have already done so!)
  • Have you checked the Airport Express with another amplifier/headphones to see if the fault is there? (perhaps a faulty 3.5mm socket?)
  • Have you checked the balance setting in the iPhone from which you are AirPlaying?  (Go to Settings   > Accessibility > Audio & Visual and adjust the balance on the slider at the bottom)
  • Have you tried another device connected to the BM4500 input? Perhaps connect the phone directly and experiment with the balance setting as above.

Ok I tried connecting my phone directly to the Beomaster via a lightning to 3.5m adapter - same result, only sound on right channel. Switch to FM, all is good. I checked the balance settings on my phone and it was set on dead center. I read on a FB group that a 7DIN cable won't work for stereo so I got a 5DIN and same result...
If you are confident of the cables, it is time to look for a fault internally - the service manuals are available on Beoworld for Gold/Silver Members.
