Hi all, I've posted a couple of times recently about a BeoSound 3000 type 2672 (small clamper) I'm fixing up. I bought it cheap with a set of Beolab 4000s I was after, and this was almost a freebie! It was quite beat up but all the functions worked fine aside from the doors not opening. Since having it I've overhauled the door mechanism, with a new belt from Dylan, re foiled the front plate which was very scratched up around the clamper, and buffed scratches out of the black plastic side panels. All in all it is quite presentable now, and the doors operate smoothly and precisely. I've also updated the software from SW1.0 to SW3.4 as I needed to set it in A.Opt6 for my setup, as well as being able to access N.Music from the main system. After a quick test I thought I was all done - all functions seemed to work fine. I then connected it to the Masterlink and started testing the local and link sources, when all of a sudden the CD has stopped working: Now when I select CD (off the front panel or the Beo4) the display show 'CD', but it does not spin or play and the unit 'locks up' - it wont respond to any button presses or the remote, and I can't change source or even power down. I have to disconnect from the mains to restart the system. All other functions and sources work fine - it's just the CD that is causing problems. I've cleaned the lens with alcohol and still no joy; I'm guessing I'm going to need a new laser? I'd be grateful for any advice before I start replacing parts!
