Hi Stan, Using Powerlink as the output gives you the option of either using the B&O remote for volume adjustment or using the external device, whereas the Aux output is fixed so the B&O remote cannot be used for volume control. This also leaves the Aux socket free to connect an extra music source if required. Additionally, the same cable works as an input to the Aux socket as well as an output from the Powerlink socket, so this helps to avoid the need to purchase two different cables for many users. There is no difference in sound quality either way. Kind regards, Steve.

Hey Steve,  If one power link port is in use to send to the essence is the Speaker Sense Adapter still needed? seems to work fine with the remote without it in my limited testing.

Hi Skywalker, It does depend on the exact setup, but in most cases the sense adapter is still needed if you don't have Beolab speakers connected directly to the 9000. Without it, the 9000 won't usually respond to the Beo4 remote control. If yours is working from the remote then that is fine (for example, if you have link rooms connects via Masterlink, that can keep the 9000 working without needing the adapter). Kind regards, Steve.
