New member here & I am hoping someone can assist.
I have had a Beosound/Beomaster 5 for many years and I already have a Behringer UFO202 purchased through Sounds Heavenly that I use to connect to Streaming services through one of the USB ports. I am thinking of purchasing a second hand B&O turntable to get back into vinyl. My question is how I can connect a turntable to the Beosound/Beomaster 5. The are no phono plugs to use, and although there are extra USB sockets I could use, there is only one A-Aux choice I can choose on the Beosound 5. Any suggestions? Could I do something through a Masterlink connection?

It should be possible to get extra sources via Masterlink by the use of a Beolink Converter type 1611.
If you connect the converter via Masterlink the BS5 should be able to get the input from the AAL conector by using video commands like TV, V.MEM, DTV (it does not matter which video command is used) etc. This of course require that you do not have a B&O TV in the same room that also use these commands.

I just tested this again with the BS5 setup as Audio master in option 2 connected to a Beolink Converter type 1611, and I can indeed get audio input from the 1611 AAL connection when I press TV or any other video command on a remote.
With these settings eventual link rooms should also work in this setup

Many thanks for the input Madskp - most appreciated. Having done a quick search on Ebay, I can see there are many different versions of Beolink Converter and the 1611 isnt that common, at least in the UK. Is there a particular reason for choosing the 1611? I feel a new rabbit hole opening up! I need to do some research on how Masterlink works.
Hi again. I just tested the setup with a Beolink converter type 1614 and that also works. A type 1612 is identical to 1611 but for the US market so that would also work.

Thanks Madskp, yes it does help a lot. I will keep a lookout for a suitable unit on ebay etc. Do you know if I connect something like a Beogram 2000 (which has no preamp) to the Beolink converter will I also need to add a preamp or will the Type 1611 boost the signal.
You will still need the preamp. The beolink converter only convert the signal types, no amplification
