I just bought my first B&O system, a Beosystem 4500. I didn't get speaker cables and need some help on where I can buy the correct 4 pin cables. I live in Canada so North American recourses would be helpful. Thank you and I can't wait to use my childhood dream system.

There's some confusing information above that may not be helpful to the OP!
It would be useful to know exactly what speakers are to be connected to the BM4500's speaker 1 sockets.
If they are straightforward Passive speakers (Beovox or Redlines) then a 2-pin din connection will be fine.
If the speakers have their own displays (eg Penta 1) then 4 pin speakerlink connection is required. The extra 2-pins carry display data and display chassis to the speaker's display (which shows volume and source at the speaker, I think).
The reference to 'MCL' above is only applicable to the BM4500 Speaker 2 sockets (which are 3-pin, not 4-pin).
If they are newer Active Beolab speakers, then powerlink cables will be required, and should be connected to the BM4500's Powerlink sockets.

nah, the displays won't work then. You need the correct fully wired MK2 powerlink cables. What length do you need? Steve (Soundsheavenly) can probably provide the right type of cables. I would have a spare pair as well I guess, but shipping from Germany to Canada is kind of ridiculous for a pair of cables.

Aare you suggesting to use the Powerlink jacks instead of the 4 pin jacks to hook up speakers?
I was thinking of buying non-B&O speakers btw if that matters.

Ah, I see. You want to use speakerlink rather than powerlink. Is that correct? I am not 100% sure but even in that case you need the four pin version. The two pin version likely can't feed the display with data since it doesn't carry the signal. Why not opt for powerlink? Cables are more readily available since speakerlink is slowly dying out. The connectors in your picture won't do the job. Kai

Yes using other brand speakers is what I intend. Than you for the info.
Then 2 pin is fine, of course. I was assuming that you are using speakers with display that were typical for B&O of the time and matching the 4500. Sorry, my bad.
