Hello Charlie, Nice project! I use an LG oled (C9) with the BS3 and I very much like the picture quality of it. The black is really black. Be aware that the BS3 has no HDMI ARC (audio return channel) capability. If you want to use the HDMI input sockets of the BS3 for audio, your TV must have a normal HDMI OUTput, or it will not work. I think such TVs are rare, if they exist. I use the optical SPDIF output of the LG, converted into coax and feed that into the BS3. You might find a box that strips the audio signal from the TV's ARC (that your TV for sure will have) and feeds into an HDMI input of the BS3. There are multiple threads about this. Indeed you will need to connect the BS3 DVI or HDMI output with the TV for menu access, but of course can make use it for your SCART devices. They will not play 4K anyway. I connected an Apple TV to my LG directly for high resolution picture, making my TV the video hub, and the BS3 the audio hub. For your MasterLink questions I would say that the regular MasterLink (im)possibilities do not change. When controlled over IR, daily management of the new TV could be done over PUC! Then you will hardly notice you do not have a B&O TV :-). Regards, Johan  

Thanks for the advice. It looks like this is an option for me.  I think I will use the SPDIF output of the TV, which I know most if not all modern TVs have, and use an optical SPDIF to Coax converter (I happen to already have one) so I can feed that to one of the digital Coax inputs of the BS3. I love the idea of using PUC - I do also happen to have a PUC cable (one with two IR blasters) but I have no idea how to use them - I'm assuming a B&O engineer would need to add the TV model to the BS3 as a PUC device, so I can control it? I also have a couple of Beo6 remotes which I know can apparently control 3rd party devices, but while I have been able to reprogram my Beo6s several times for my B&O devices, I have no idea how to program them to work with 3rd party devices. Nevertheless, looks like I'll be shopping for a big TV soon then!

You might loose true surround sound. Not all TVs transcode to AC3 (Dolby Digital) over SP/DIF. If you e.g use a build-in TV App for Netflix it will stream E-AC3 (Dolby Digital Plus). But DD+ is not compatible with SP/DIF. Some TVs transcode to AC3/DD .... Some don't. If it doesn't you'll only get e.g. stereo over SP/DIF and your BS3 with only provide Surround Sound as Dolby Pro Logic. And that is bad and would be a dealbraker for me. You might think plan-b would be eARC  extractor ... But the issue will be the same. I do not know of any eARC extractor which can transcode to AC3/DD.

I didn't know that, thank you. There doesn't seem to be a perfect solution then.  I could use the BS3 as it is intended, with all devices connected to it, but then I'd only be getting 1080p when the TV's own apps would give me 4K. I've been unable to find a TV which has a dedicated HDMI output, which would solve the problem.  As Tignum says, perhaps they don't exist! It's hard to find out if a TV transcodes to AC3; the info is not always clear in the sales literature for the models I've looked at.

Hi, for what is worth: I mainly use the Apple TV 4K to watch content, and have it set to output Dolby Digital 5.1. The LG is set to 'passthrough'. Works a treat! Regards, Johan

Hi there, I also need some help, looking at getting a commercial 55" 4k commercial "panel" (not a tv), anyone know how I would  connect this to the Beosystem 3, would i still use the same output from the BS3 and could there be an adaptor from the beovision 4 50" cable plug 🤔 to fit the new panel, as all my cables run down a "narrow" tube in my wall and it would be very difficult to take the original bs3 to panasonic screen cable out. Better still has anyone done this upgrade, and what sort of picture quality would it achieve, or is there a more better solution than a "panel" 🤔 I'm not clued up with this kind of thing but imagine a move from plasma and a 55" screen would be an improvement, although the beo 4 50" has still great picture quality and colours don't look false Hope this all makes sense Regards Graham
