From memory back when we had something like that at home you just press one of the number buttons to turn on the channel that number is tuned to. You turn it off by pressing 0 Hope this helps

Thanks...I thought a picture might trigger someone's memory!  It seems that the number buttons will need service because the tv seems to always be on. Guy

One thing to notice. If my memory serves me well maybe the 0 button has to be pressed in and stay in for the TV to be off.

The mech. things (power switch slider etc.) in the switch group could need cleaning and the contacts perhaps a shot of contact cleaner. Martin

Martin's words are spot on but be VERY careful which switch cleaner you use! I have used Servisol (Now Kontakt Chemie) Super 10 for 30 years and my father used it for 30 years before me. In all that time, the only thing it has ever damaged for either of us was....A Beovision 3502 switch unit. Ours started having intermittent contacts and so my father gave it the treatment and it was fine for a week or so. Then, one day, he clicked out the volume/tone control drawer and it wouldn't go back in. Long story short, it needed a complete new switch unit and the dealer showed us the old one which looked like it had had acid poured over it - the whole back of it had completely melted. So, for the first and, I hope,only time in my life I will say to you - for god's sake don't use Servisol switch cleaner on it!

Thank you for the advice!  Does anyone know if the service manual is available if I upgrade my membership status?  I don't want to do any damage trying to fix it!   I just love the design and it sure would be nice to get it working! Guy
