I picked up a B&O MS 6000 CRT TV (https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=630) last year and it’s been working fine but I have a few audio annoyances with it. Firstly, whenever I turn the TV on, it always defaults to a volume level of 42, which is pretty loud. So I always have to turn it back down to a reasonable level. I’ve tried using the store button on the Beolink 1000 remote but this doesn’t store the setting. Is there a battery in these TVs that helps store the setting?
Also the other issue is that I am getting a buzzing sound from the speakers, even if there is nothing connected to the TV. The buzzing gets louder, the louder the volume is. Is this and issue with capacitors on the chassis or something? Have tried a few Google searches but couldn’t find anything. Was hoping someone on here might be able to help me

Just a guess, but with B&O audio systems from the 90s the store action has always been 'sound', (adjust), 'store' 'store'.
Not just one hit of the store button but two.

The MS6000 has a small lithium Battery (CR2450) inside the CPU unit. It must have 3V minimum. There are different software versions on the MS6000. Store-Sound-Store ... Looking online, I can see that when opening one of these CRTs there are two green boards on the left and right of a brown board that some people mod to add a service button to. Is that metal box on the “back” of the main brown board, so it would have to be completely removed to work on it? I assume that, that metal box is solder in place or is it folded metal tabs. It looks like it might be a bit of a pain to remove the metal box lid to get at the battery.There are 2 snaps on the top, there is no need to remove it complete... First remove the top. Then you have access to the lithium cell. Measure it. It must have 3V, not less... + is top of the batterie, - is ground of the box. If less, ok, dismount the box complete. You have to replace the cell. If 3V is ok, just close it and assemble it. But 30 years of time... no lithium cell will last much longer.Please Log In to Reply
