Hi there, Just starting up my Beo collection and I am trying to find some additional information on which cables / ports to use when connecting a DVD1 to a beovision avant 8490. All the user manuals I can find online say to connect the 21-pin socket to the AV port on the Avant, but my avant 8490 does not seem to have a port labeled AV. I did see a side not mentioned that if your Avant is equipped with Dolby Digital module, connect the socket marked DIGITAL OUTPUT on DVD 1 to the INPUT 1. But I don't see a port labeled Input 1 on the back of the tv.   I'm wondering if I need a different cable other than the 21 pin socket.   Any help is much appreciated.    

Hey @millemissen & @trackbeo, Thank you for the quick response.   Here are a couple photos of the back of the DVD1 and The Upper and Lower parts of the Avant 8490.   I was wondering if the 21-pin socket connector should plug into anything in the back of the Avant, but all I see are options to use component video. I though this was the period-correct DVD player to pair with this TV but I cant seem to get it to work.

Thank you @guy , I totally thought the preferred connection would have been the 21-pin cable, but I guess this model TV didn't have the connections for it. Next question, Any idea what the DATA cable and Digital output cables might look like? I've been searching around online to find somewhere to order those without avail.   I really appreciate everyone's expertise here.  ?

Does this look like the right set for the BeoVision?

Looks like two sets of identical cables. Why the instruction above recommends connecting the analog (L/R) as well as the digital coax, I don’t know - L/R should do it, if you do not have any additional speakers connected to the tv. The data connection must be to control the tv/video (turn on/off etc), something that otherweise is part of a scart connection. Did you try any of these connections out - following the instructions that Guy postet? MM
