Welcome to this private forum for invited Beoworld members and the Create team at B&O.

The Create Team funded by B&O has been setup as a standalone start-up under the direction of Anders Buchmann and Christian Thams to bring to market quickly that have the potential to link old and new B&O technologies.

Attached is a short overview so far to get you started and all the Create team (Currently 5 members) will have access to this area and be ready to answer questions.

No visible overview, or am I jumping the gun?

No Peter you were not jumping the gun, I added it to the moderators section posting which I see you have now found.

I have now also added it to my original posting in this section as well.

Like the projects shown though not quite sure why? Reminds me a bit of the Beocenter 1600 turned into a DAB radio - very clever but not as good as a new design would be due to either size or necessity for more/less controls. If you were looking at this type of product, surely it would be best to have close integration with the modern equipment to encourage use of that and to adapt older design cues to bring in the Beo lovers. The Beosound 2 would be exactly what I wanted if it had echo voice control. Extend that to a multiroom system and I am hooked. Have started already - two rooms hooked up! Beolab 4000s in one room (gain needs playing with as too loud) and a Beolab 5000 system (1967!) in another! (rather easier as able to change input sensitivity easily.)

I would suggest Steve from Sounds Heavenly would be a useful addition.

My thoughts exactly, I will contact Steve and invite him to join..

Thanks Keith and Peter,

This sounds very interesting.  I have been thinking along similar lines to this project already, as several UK B&O stores have asked me if a replacement for Beolink Passive could be developed which is smaller (to fit inside passive speakers or in a ceiling void), more flexible (ie. simple and easy to configure) and cost-effective (to appeal to wide range of new and existing customers).

One suggestion at this stage is that the board itself could be modular, ie. the most basic format could have analogue audio inputs and digital power amplification only, with the digital processing kept as a separate plug-in module.  This would keep costs down and could provide a better fit to the three example customers in the presentation.

Situations that I regularly see where this project could be of benefit include the following:-

1) Beovision TV to be used with the customer's existing high-end hifi loudspeakers, so a good quality power amplifier is required,

2) B&O products are installed in a new build home that has passive ceiling speakers fitted in every room,

3) A long-term B&O customer wishes to upgrade their passive Beovox speakers for use with a newer TV or audio system.

On a basic level, 3.5mm minijack, RCA/phono and RJ45 audio input connections would greatly ease the process of integrating this project with the widest range of B&O, hifi and portable audio devices.

I will be interested to see how this idea develops!

Kind regards, Steve.

Hi Anders and Christian,

I was planning to hack a pair of vintage speakers that I have at home to make them RJ45 Powerlink enabled for use on a Beoplay S8 Connection Hub - if you wish I can hold this project and we could use this to test ideas for the new project that you are working on?

Please let me know if this could be helpful.

Kind regards, Steve.

Hello All at Create!

Whilst being nowhere near as technically gifted as Steve at Sounds Heavenly or as logical and technical as Keith, I can certainly offer solid advice on older products and peoples daily interaction with them.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but I deal in pre-owned / used Bang & Olufsen products for a living (I own LifeStyle AV) and spend a great deal of time with people selling B&O because it can't be used, or has become useless, or they have found a better solution (Sonos etc).  I also see many people with older B&O who have it stored as they cannot bear to sell it, but cannot find a use for it in modern times.

I will also be a little in line with Peter in my comments. You will find Steve and Keith to be very positive as this is their specialist area, whereas Peter and myself will probably play Devils Advocate and draw on any negatives we see!  We may be useless to you, so please tell us if we are and we'll sit on our hands!!

My first observation is the CX50 / CX100 project. Do bear in mind that around 75-80% of all CX's I get in have foam rot on the drivers. If someone was to take their pair from the loft and start using them, they may have an unpleasant surprise when they start distorting - and a further unpleasant surprise when they get a bill for the new ones.

Hej guys!

I have just posted an introductory thread in the Create Forum, for us to all get to know each other. It would be awesome if you could write a few lines about yourselves there and hopefully next week we can start sharing some projects and have something for you guys to really dig your teeth into!

I think the best way for us to give feedback with individual project proposals is to create a dedicated thread for each proposal so we can focus on one project in one thread. This may be chaotic at first but we'll build measure and learn as we say in Create :)

So glad you are willing to hosts us and I'm looking forward to all the conversations we'll be having!
