Beolink Converter issues....

I am trying to connect a Beolink Converter NL/ML to a Beosystem 7000. I have programmed the converter and then tried it out on a Beocentre 2 connected via ML. It worked just fine. But I need a converter to connect to the 7000 system? ML-DL? I had a 1614 converter that I know works just fine historically but this would not convert these signals. So I have just purchased a 1611 as this is the required converter. Still no joy! I have swapped out power leads and datalink leads and powerlink leads. I have tried putting the 7000 into every mode. Still nothing! 'Anyone have any ideas?
Is the datalink cable a fully wired 7-pin?  And is it definitely connected to the AUX/TV socket of the BM7000 and the AAL socket of the BL1611? I don't think that the Powerlink cable is required in this setup - it's probably worth disconnecting in case it is causing a conflict.

Hej Guy. Yes 7 PIN datalink. I have tried two of them now.  I just disconnected the Powerlink cable as per your suggestion. Still no joy! Via the Beocentre 2 I know the required signals are getting to the end of the ML cable. But it is going wrong from 1611 converter to Beomaster 7000? I now suspect the 7000 is in a wrong mode somehow but I have tried them all. 'Very odd?
A little thought from me: what role is the NL/ML converter setup to? I am not sure it can work if the converter is setup as Source center as this will make source collission on the ML part. This will not be the case for the BC2 if it is N.music compatible.

Thanks for the responses. It is so confusing. I tried the BC2 again and no issues at all. Without changing anything I connect to 1611/7000 and it's dead! I have tried all ML options. I have unplugged/depowered etc etc. Just nothing. This is my setup...

Wooh! Somethign jst happened.
I am pretty sure that the NL/ML Converter should not be set as A Master because this will conflict with the BM7000/BL1611 which is also acting as an Audio Master.  Try V Master.
