Hi beoworld forum. This is my first post on this great forum.
I have bought a beogram rx 2. with a pickup called a mmc cl. I know threre is a pickup called mmc 20 cl, but this pickup is only called cl not 20 cl. This is strange, and I haven’t found any information about a special variant named cl?
Can you help me with informations please? Yours Jens

This deck would have an MMC1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 in it - are you sure some of the writing hasn't rubbed off?!
Alternatively, can you post a picture?
yes here is a picture
Well, I take it back. Not seen one of those before!
I think it's fake.
For me, it looks like a cheap Tonar element with some lookalike print on it.
The cartridge misses the transparant protection cap in front.
Edit: I missed the cap in the pictures. It's there. So, I'm baffled as wel.

Quite a challenge to achieve "Less is More" while having the Beovirus.
The original MMC20CL had a sapphire cantilever and a contact line stylus which was the top of the line for the MMC20 range. The MMC1 and 2 had again a sapphire cantilever and a contact line stylus. The cantilever on this example looks to be metal - probably aluminium as the sapphire cantilever is transparent. I would suggest this is something like an MMC4 that has been altered and a contact line stylus put on - I have a MMC20SH on my Beogram 4001 which is a MMC20 S originally but with a better cantilever and a shibata stylus. I wanted a black cartridge to match the black arm and I am less keen on the Soundsmith cartridges - personal taste - they are demonstrably excellent but have a different sound compared to the MMC20 originals.
My B&O Icons:
Hello Jens.
I have brought a MMC CL-X last week.
Tested it on my Geogram TX with the Ortofon Test Records 2&3 , and it sound just like my MMC 2. The MMC CL -X it has a sapphire cantilever and a line contact diamond on it.
Going to test it against my MMC 1 the next days.
And old employe at B&O told me that the MMC CL and CL-X was sold separately, with an adapter ( witch I also have) so that clients with other brands of top record players got interested in Top B&O pick up’s. He reminds that the Cl was equal MMC 4, and CL-X , MMC 2. I haven’t seen the cantilever ( aluminium) on a MMC C L if it is a MMC 4, can you send a picture of the cantilever of your CL
Best regards from Denmark.
