Bang & Olufsen classic service centre. Repairs and refurbishment to both old and new.
I also find it's a great news: it's always a good thing to have people investing in youngtimers products and keeping them alives… But, many question though:
  • Price, of course.
  • Reliability: is it the same tech that the original that will inevitably make it malfunction within two or three years (independently of the battery health)?
  • Usefullness: really nowadays there is very little a Beosound 3 can offer, no other more recent device can make better or at least the same. I know some people have still the unit as part of their brick & mortar life and for them it's a great news, but…
I used to have two units: one was sold as donor (and curiously find a buyer, whats defeat all I said above…). The other is more a decoration than a music device. Once a year i need to take the keyboard appart and thoughrougly clean it, and it will work for 12-15 month again, but beside displaying time it is useless. From now on (since a couple of years in fact), I don't buy anything B&O that has not Aux-In. And BS3 should have it more than the useless headphone socket. Anyway, I wish you to sell all your batch.

Hello, B&O customers are very attached to this product, otherwise we wouldn't have redesigned the keyboard, especially for its sound quality. The keyboard will be sold at a retail price of €150 excluding VAT; this price reflects two years of research to reproduce it. We will modify the product to include an auxiliary input. The original keyboard had a complex design; the resistive values resulting from combinations of the four rows also depended on the actuation force in newtons, a feature that caused the keyboard to have problems. We have created resistive contacts using silver paste; the manufacturer specializes in membrane keyboards, and they are handmade.
These are finally great news from B&O! 1.) So this is an upgraded Keypad AND a functionality upgrade with Aux-in? 2.) Same design as the old one to keep the aestetics? 3.) Will the core functionality of Beosound 3 be kept alive, so that I can use it again as an MP3-Alarm clock, radio etc.?
The product remains the same, the aux update will be later, i just need to work around, the product have the same design seems the original
Ok, and this is an official Bang & Olufsen solution or third party "modification"?
B&O knows that we do this modification and they are happy that we can adjust this product, but this keyboard is completly under the responsability of madsystemes.
Are you located in Europe? I would happpily participate as a beta tester if you need one. :-)
