Playmaker annoying behavior

Hi Alls, For those who are following , I've got a Playmaker as the heart of my "Beocenter 72-92" system. For all the other , I have a Playmaker running somewhere, part of an Airplay network, that streams from a MacMini to Airplay boxes and that Playmaker, all of this all over the house. The problem is that when the Playmaker is "offline" that is not receiving a stream, and I get a phonecall (iPhone), I hear the Beolabs cliking in, but nothing else happen. But the counter side is that from there on the Playmaker is no more available as an airplay device. So in nutshell.

Start music.
Playmaker joins in.
Stop music.
Start music.
Playmaker joins in.

All good.

Start music.
Playmaker joins in.
Stop music.
Have a phone call
Playmakers start but without emiting any sound (phone conversation for all the neigborhoud expected but no!).
Start music again after the call.
Playmaker needs to be ticked out and ticked in again in the airplay list to start to stream again.

Less good. Any suggestion? MM? Thanks.

“Any suggestions” No, not really! I have always used a dedicated (older) iPad/iPhone for music playback….…….and have had the iPhone be a phone. Actually I have over the years had different setups with the trusted old Playmaker, but have never experienced what you describe. Mostly it was a source (A.Tape/A.Aux) connected to a ML master in the ML setup. Sorry - that is not much help 😏 MM

Thanks Millemissen. I need to add that the phone is used as just a phone and does not play any role in the setup beside the iTunes Remote app that allows to browse the iTunes library on the Mac mini so n direct connection between the first two.

I am not sure if it's relevant but have you tried adjusting the phone's AirPlay settings - I found this page on mine, perhaps 'Automatically AirPlay' is set to 'Automatic' on yours? Perhaps try setting to 'never'. EDIT: As an aside, I just noticed that 'AirPlay Receiver' option at the bottom, but scrolled down and realised that it is just for Apple Vision Pro, which is a shame!

Thanks Guy, I've found a similar option in my older iOS, something about "ato connect to airplay devices". I'll try in the following weeks if it still react that way and will report. All the best.

We had a Playmaker in the yacht, connected to Beolab 4's hanging from the ceiling in the master's cabin. The sound was excellent, given the small space. But we mostly used it auto-sensing line-in from the yacht's main source. We had a difficult time trying to airplay anything to it and get consistent good results. I know it doesn't help you, but we basically gave up on the Playmaker as a wireless device. I must say I am glad/surprised to hear Millemisen has had it be reliable.

Back in the days I have had a Playmaker running wirelessly. However, you should always - whenever possible - use it wired. It can be tricky in some environments. Please consider, when airplaying to it (which is what most people do), you are using Airplay 1 (meaning the original Airplay version). AP1 uses a lot more bandwith for streaming than the later AP2 version. This might also cause some hickups from time to time. The Playmaker is still a nice device, when used wired - the line-in connection with the auto sense is a great/usefull feature. MM
