Has anyone found a way to get the Product Configuration Guide (PCG) to run on Linux under the Wine application? It installs fine, but when I try running version 2.7.0 under Wine, I get an "Internal VXT error", which is generally connected with printer drivers! Mark

Can you install a virtual machine on Linux? If so install a Win95 machine and it should work on there.

The only way I've ever gotten 2.6.4 to work is in a Windows 98 virtual machine (with 86box). Here's a question -- I seem to recall earlier, DOS-based versions of the tool. Does anyone have a copy of something previous to 2.6.4?  It seems to date from 2009 and has dropped most of the info about North American NTSC CRTs. The data is in *.rul files; these seem to be early rule-based expert system decision trees.  They seem to be binary files but with clear sections of ascii text if you open them up in Notepad or another text editior.  It would be interesting to see if they could be parsed by more modern software.

I was trying to find a way to stay "Micro$oft Free", but still run the software. Hence my attempts to use Wine. Most issues such as this finally turn out to be a simple matter of configuration... the trouble is that finding out that configuration is very difficult. Thank you for your thoughts. If I have to give up on Wine, then I'll find a Windows PC (yuck). Mark
