Spotify Connect Lossless on Mozart speakers

Any signs that B&O will support lossless audio on Spotify Connect on my Mozart speakers soon? Would be great to hear what the speakers are capable of.
Since Spotify is not an integrated part of the Mozart (or any B&O device for that matter) product, I see no reason why you should not be able to use the lossless Spotify version there. Spotify Connect barely means that the speaker fetches the stream once it is initialized from the Spotify app. However, I can’t say 100%, because my Spotify account has not been upgraded yet. Spotify reports that “this speaker is not capabele of playing lossless audio”. As the chip is overpowered, is it safe to assume this would this be fixable with a software update? Or is there a technical constrain? Probably, we have to wait for an update from B&O.

So, just saw that my Spotify accound now is updated to the lossless version. And did a couple of quick test before going to bed. The lossless version plays just fine on the iPad. But neither my Essence MK2 nor the Theatre does support the lossless version when using Connect. I suppose then, that the B&O devices need an update in order to do this. Funnily enough…when one airplays to the devices the lossless version is active on the iPad. However, that makes not much sense, since Airplay 2 will only transfer in a lossy version (meaning, what arrives at the choosen speaker is not lossless). I made a request through the app, if there will be an update and when. I advice all Spotify Premium users to do the same - so that B&O knows that there is a need for it. MM

I got an answer from B&O. They informed the shared it with there internal team so it can be considered for future develepment. Good to share it all 😀
It works fine for me. Tested it on Theatre, Beolab 28 & 8 and a Balance. I did have to force the Lossless setting to every Spotify Connect device manually before it worked. I’ve added screenshots how I did this in Spotify. Just click on the items I’ve marked with a red line and you’ll get into the right settings menu. I had to do this for every device. And a extra screenshot from the Signal info of Theatre confirming the incoming lossless signal. Multiroom also worked fine.

Waiting patiently to have my account supporting lossless. Been on premium since 2009, I should almost get special treatment 😀 Soon Im close again to my peak headphone audio setup I had 11 years ago with Sennheiser HD800, Apogee Duet-DAC and local FLAC-files.
I did some testing at home. The Theatre works just fine with Spotify Connect Lossless. The Theatre is on the Mozart platform, so I would assume that this is the case gor all Mozart products. None of my ASE products (Essence MK2 and alike) do support the lossless version. The question then is…will there be an upgrade for those? For my M5 and the M3’s I could not care less - but for my Essences (with good speakers connected) it would be nice…..at least to be able to know, whether I can hear a difference or not 😂 MM

These days Spotify are slowly rolling out Spotify Hifi for its Premium users. Without any user interaction, the automatically selected quality will remain lossy 16/44 320kbit oggvorbis. Mozart Platform-based speakers are already prepared for Spotify Hifi. However, due to the way Spotify has implemented their Hifi option, Lossless needs to be enabled on each individual Spotify Connect device/speaker, not just on the phone. To get Spotify Lossless working on Mozart:
 1. Start a song in Spotify and play it on the speaker using Spotify Connect.
 2. After the song has started on the speaker, go to Settings > Media Quality in the Spotify app. Change from Automatic to Lossless and confirm.
 3. Switch to another song to activate the change.
 4. Repeat for every individual Mozart speaker that should support lossless.

What about the ase products? I would like to have lossless spotify on my Eclipse 😉
