To make testing easier I have made this little adapter where I can more easyly change between different IR eyes. It can also be usefull for lots if other testing scenarios IMG_9851

And I have made a test with another MCL IR eye with the same result as the other MCL IR eye. might also try a test with a ML IR eye to see if anything is different

To improve control of the BS9000, plug the NL/ML converter into the 9000 via masterlink, configure the NL/ML converter as a Video master, then integrate the NL/ML converter into your Core. This will give you the sources from the 9000 in the Core’s local source list, allow remote control of the CDs from the core as well as other rooms (change track and CD etc), and also gives the benefit of turning on the core and speakers when you start a CD from the 9000 using the buttons on the side, or the control panel inside :) I have it setup this way with my A9 mk4 and it works well. Note you can’t “integrate” products on the new Mozart platform so i’d stick with the beosound core you already have.

Die Beolab 6000 sind relativ schwach drauf. Was will man auch von diesen kleinen Lautsprechern erwarten?
Hi Eddy, Sorry but I've deleted your answer while trying to do some cleanup because of multiple posts (which I now know is a forum issue. Apologies. DAC: I don't know and as far as I know, little people here do care but I may be wrong. With a non B&O amplifier: these unit are really made to work with amplified speakers, better B&O. You wouldn't want the 3000 unit stand above a third party amplifier with passive speaker. It's a matter of design, but as I'm writing, I understand some people would want it as a CD deck only and it should work. History and Follow-up: The BS3000 MK1 (small clamper: the CD cover that has a small diameter) is prone to fry his CPU for any reason. Stay away from it unless it's a very fair price and you have tested it. BS3000 MK2 (large clamper that cover almost all the disc), I believe it's more reliable but I don't know really. Appart from this, reliable units, easily serviceable, iconic and entrance gate to the Beovirus. Personnal ignorant note: Because it seems important to you, I need to add that I wouldn't say that any Beosound is a above range CD player, just a fancy one. Hope this helps and sorry for the overcleaning.

Hi everyone, I recently purchased the Bang & Olufsen Beoconnect Core and connected it to my Beolab 18 speakers. The setup works wonderfully – the sound quality is excellent, everything integrates smoothly with my other B&O products, and overall I’m very happy with the experience. However, I’ve run into a small visual issue within the B&O app. In both the promotional materials and the user manual, the connected speakers are shown as individual, visible elements on the main screen of the app (with their corresponding graphics). Unfortunately, in my case this visualization does not appear at all, and I can’t find any option that would enable it. Interestingly, it did show up once by accident – when I temporarily lost connection with one of my Beolab 18 speakers, the app displayed one Beolab 18 and another speaker that looked like a generic, non-B&O model. Unfortunately, I didn’t capture a screenshot at that moment. I’m attaching a photo from my app as well as the image from the user manual to illustrate the difference. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Maybe there’s a hidden setting, a particular update, or some workaround that enables this visual representation? Thanks in advance for any help, and warm greetings to all the forum members!

Hi all,

After reading quite a few threads about the Avant 55 over the years, I thought I’d share a few observations for anyone considering buying one used.

The Avant 55 is, in my opinion, one of the last “proper” B&O televisions — motorised stand, speaker movement, classic interface. But it does have some recurring weak points.

The most discussed issue seems to be the Digital Video Engine (video board). Typical symptoms are purple screens, horizontal lines, distorted image, or the TV powering on without showing a proper picture. Many MK1 units eventually needed a replacement board. Some owners report that replacement boards also failed again later, possibly due to heat.

Panel issues are another area to check carefully. Look for uneven brightness, green or purple lines, spots in the middle of the screen, or color shifts. Some of these issues are DVE-related, others appear to be genuine panel/backlight problems.

The motorised mechanisms are fantastic when working, but also worth testing thoroughly. Speaker movement and stand rotation should be tested multiple times to make sure nothing sticks or hesitates.

There are also occasional startup and HDMI quirks, but those seem less critical compared to the DVE and panel risks.

In short, the Avant 55 can still be a great buy if:

  • The video engine has been replaced (ideally documented)

  • The panel is clean and uniform

  • The price reflects the potential repair risk

When it works, it’s magical. When it fails, it can become expensive.

Would be interesting to hear long-term MK2/NG experiences as well.
