I'm currently rocking a Beovision Avant 75 + Beolab 17,18,19
However the Avant just died again for the 2nd time, and need a new mainboard replacement. 1st time was less than 4 years ago.
I know that the new screen is pure LG - and I could most likely get it cheaper if I buy it elsewhere. However I've been offered to trade in my non working avant for a brand new Beosound Theatre 77" C3 with a motorized stand for a 40% discount.
Am I better off keep fixing my Avant or should I upgrade to a Beosound Theatre 77"
Fixing my avant is cheaper than buying new gear, but the headache of the avant break down with a few years apart is making me consider buying new. Also the option for trading in my old screen is tempting as I most likely wouldn't be able to sell it for much either working and even less as non working.
Going forward I could replace the LG screen with a new one if I years from now want a new or bigger screen and still keep the beosound Theatre.
Any and all suggestions are welcome about what to do.

I was in the same situation a year ago….only that my Avant was 55”.
40% of seems a very good deal.
But we need to know, if that is on the whole unit (including stand etc).
In that case I’d even say, that it is an excellent deal.
(You should go for the LG/G3 model, if possible!)
But you will have to talk costs for the installation too…..unless you are able to do it yourself.
Personally I did not look back - even if there have been some (SW) quirks along the way. The Theatre is pretty stable now imo.
The Theatre has so many options - you will probably hear a difference in the overall sound from your system right after setting it up…..to the better.
It needs a bit of rethinking - the integration with excisting Masterlink/NL-converter products is not great…..if you have any.
And the new app is still a mystery……if you have other newer NL-based products.
I would not hesitate - I am sure you will like the Theatre.

Yes the offer includes, the 77" LG C3 TV, motorized floor stand, Beosound Theater soundbar and the Beoremote, everything required to be good to go.
For the installation, I'd assume that if I accept that the dealer will deliver everything at my address and before he leaves, everything has been mounted on the floor stand and are ready to go. The remaining setup I will handle myself.
My beolab speakers are all being connected using WiSa and I would also assume that it should be just easy to connect as on the Avant?
For the G3 or C3 screen, ive been trying to find the differences and I can only find the G3 has better brightness than the C3 - Maybe there are other differencies?

I think if you had purchased new a larger flat screen Avant or Eclipse (with flagship sound/connectivity/stand), I think it would be realistic that that Beovision would cost you over £2000/year in depreciation or right-off over say 5 years to keep up with the screen tech (your choice) i.e £10000 minimum.
A Theatre, in my view represents a similar outlay (£10-15k, size dependant) but you will be depreciating/righting-off £2000 to £3500-ish in LG screen in 5 years. The same if you had a non-B&O soundbar. The Soundbar in theory should be good for a good deal longer than 5 years and therefore represents an improved economic (won’t say investment) over similar life cycle.
If it’s within your means and you can handle a few bugs (until B&O iron them out), it will be an enjoyable bit of kit

What kind of bugs are we talking about with the Theatre?
I've had the Avant for close to 9 years, and enjoyed it every day. I knew the day would come when I had to decide if I should replace it with a new model or a new brand.
The write-off of 100% after 9 years would be acceptable had it been for a cheaper brand TV. But since the Avant cost 2-3 times as much as a same size regular TV I would expect it to last longer. Of course not 2-3 times longer but still longer.
With the trade in offer I can sort of recoup some of the write-off.
If you read thru the Theatre thread there is a list of issues that Owners have had - All associated with implementation of the Mozart platform and multi-rooming.
The main bugs I have experienced are:-
- Renaming the Sources more than 3 times locks the source name as HDMI (A/B/C) in the BR1 and can still only be corrected by a Factory reset
- There is a PUC issue - dont select a PUC device in the configuration menus with the source active. Its OK to configure when the source is not active.
- There is/was a bug that caused some crackle in the soundbar. (my issue was resolved on a SW update)
- There was an issue with sound quality with some low-grade PCM2.0 sound files. Believe this SW bug is fixed.
- Some people reported sudden move to standby. Believe this is also fixed now.
For what its worth i went through the same situation last year.
I think the Avant is the most wonderful looking TV but I had the Video board go o n three occasions, I am convinced the repaired boards dont last as long and each time its a £1K fix and weeksor months of waiting.
I had enough and got the theatre, the just the idea that the investment is made and no more investing in technology that changes so quickly- just stick a new screen on.
With ever incerasing prices of B&O it was the only option for me.
Although the LG lacks many things the picture is vastly superior to the Avant and in my experience the tehatre has been fully reliable.

In your opinion what lacks does the LG tv have?
I went to see the LG screen yesterday and the dealer told me that IF I wanted the larger 83” then the screen would fit the motorized floor stand as long as the weight of the screen was below 43kg.
is that correct? Would the screen brackets etc really fit the motorized floor stand if the screen is bigger than 77”
Should I decide to wall mount the screen instead then I can definitely get the bigger screen.
I use an Apple TV for my Avant and would prefer to do the same with the LG. On the Avant there is room to hide the Apple TV. Is it possible to do the same with a wall mounted LG screen or what are you guys doing to hide an Apple tv
another thing I’m able to use my beoremote with my avant + Apple tv can I do the same on the LG or will the remote only work with LG screen and not the Apple tv ?
If you are thinking of the LG G series own wall mount, and therefore separated from the Theatre, then no there is no easy way to hide an ATV (low board / cabinet would be required).
I think if you have the Theatre wall mount and joining interface with the LG, then there is space behind to hide an ATV.
But thats a motorised wall mount, and together with the interface back plate, awfully expensive. STB make a non motorised wall mount for the Theatre and LG - but (to me at least) it sticks out from the wall a hell of long way.
